Agnes Eleanor (Watson) Strayer, 98, of Locust Grove, VA, formerly of Johnstown, PA, went to meet her Lord On Friday, December 1, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA. Born on November 17, 1919 in Nanty-Glo, PA, the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Watson, Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul K. Strayer, brother, Thomas Watson and sisters Mary Jane Thomas and Clara Sharpe. Survived by her loving daughters, Paulette Rae Tantlinger and Linda Joyce Peterson (Daniel); devoted grandsons, Bryan Clifton Strayer (Kara), Eric Scott Tantlinger, Todd Patrick Peterson (Melanie) and Kirk Andrew Peterson (Nicole); two great grandchildren, Cole and Tucker Peterson and sister-in-law and friend Ann Louise Watson. Agnes worked as an Executive Secretary for the American Cancer Society and Mental Health Association for many years in Johnstown, PA. She was also a dedicated member of the Belmond United Methodist Church and served as the secretary of the Administrative Board for 19 years. Agnes became a member of the Lake of the Woods Church upon moving to Virginia in 2003. Funeral services will be held at the Lake of the Woods Church, Locust Grove, VA on Wednesday December 6, 2017 at 11 am with Pastor Michael Lemay officiating. Family will received friends one hour before the funeral and interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Agnes' name to the Lake of the Woods Church.
