Alice (Smith) Grow, 91, of Spotsylvania, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 2, 2018. She was born on October 26, 1926 to the late Oswald L. and Maggie (Chewning) Smith, also of Spotsylvania County.
Alice was a Spotsylvania High School graduate and a member of Peace United Methodist Church. Alice was one of three sisters, who married three brothers. She was the last survivor of the three couples. She was a stay-at-home mom and did a lot of volunteer work with Meals-on-Wheels and Special Needs Children, while living in Maryland before retiring back to Spotsylvania County.
Alice enjoyed traveling with her family in their motor home, going to steam engine shows, taking in numerous flea markets and making new friends in their travels.
Alice is survived by her son, Norman A. Grow, Jr.; three sisters, Lorace Coe, Catherine Smith and Arnell Steckler; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved dog, Tippy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Norman A. Grow, Sr.; four Smith brothers, Garnett, Carroll, Marvin and Oswald, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Catlett, Dorothy Grow and Annie Bell Grow.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2 pm, with family receiving friends one hour before. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park
