Alvera A. Jacobsen, 93, of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully Wednesday September 29, 2010. She was the widow of her beloved husband of 63 years, Howard B. Jacobsen.
Alvera was born September 2, 1917 in St. Louis MO, a daughter of the late Aloysius and Mary Mueller. She was a devoted wife and caregiver, dearly loved sister, mother, mother in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother and took great joy and pride in her family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Mueller and Raymond Muller. She is survived by her three sisters; Margaret Gertkin of St. Louis, MO, Loretta Cantoni of Orangevale, CA and Adele Trieschmann of Santa Maria, CA; one sister in-law and one brother in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Other survivors include her seven loving children; Charlene Garten of Burke, Walter Jacobsen of Spotsylvania County, Sandra Rawlett of Spotsylvania County, Doris Shoemaker of Spotsylvania County, Lucille Everson of Danville, CA, Roger Jacobsen of Spotsylvania County and Lester Jacobsen of Alexandria; twenty three grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. Also three daughters in-laws and three sons in-laws.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania where a Rosary will be said at 7:30 pm.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Ely Fords Rd., Spotsylvania, 11:00 am Saturday October 2, 2010. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
