Obituary

Anice M. Brooks, 91, formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Monday Feb. 28, 2011 at Greenfield Assisted Living in Stafford.
Mrs. Brooks was born on June 11, 1919 in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Frederick W. (of Alabama) and Corrie Messer (of North Carolina) Mathis.
Anice was the loving wife of Duval A. Brooks for 65 years, she was the devoted mother of Linda B. Long and Cindy DeBruhl and her husband David, all of Fredericksburg; the exceptional grandmother of Teresa Angel and her husband Steve, Courtney Shomo and her husband Hunter, Lucas DeBruhl and his wife Kristy; great-grandmother of Ridgely Shomo; step grandmother of Robert Long and Luanne Maples and their children, Zachary, Brittany, Morgan, Jordan, Trish and Layla. She was predeceased by her great-grandsons, Robert Davies and Jacob DeBruhl and her son-in-law Fred Long. She is also survived by her Greenfield Assisted Living Family.
Graveside services will be conducted 11 am Thursday March 4, 2011 at Laurel Hill Memorial Park by Rev. Pamela Meeuwissen.
