Arnold Ray "Arnie" Nelson, formerly of Spotsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, August, 14th, 2021, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Arnie was born February 7th, 1943, in Clinton, TN. He graduated from Clinton High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he met his loving wife Sandy. They later moved to Fredericksburg, VA, where they bought a home and started a family. Arnie and Sandy were married for 51 years. Arnie spent his last year living in Weems, VA with his daughter and son in law. He spent his days feeding and watching all the nearby wildlife. He will be remembered as a devoted and hardworking husband, father, and grandfather.

Arnie is survived by his daughter Kelly Duke, her husband Andrew Duke; grandchildren Evan and Emma Leach and Courtney and Christopher Duke; Brother Darold Nelson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Sandy Nelson and his parents Ray and Ruby Nelson.

A graveside service will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania, VA on Thursday, August 19th at

10:00 AM. Please meet at the grave.
