Arthur Stanley Crowe, born on January 28, 1954, in Queens, New York, passed away at home on the evening of July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2023, Arthur faced the illness with remarkable strength and determination, earning the nickname "Rocky" for his resilience and unwavering spirit—always getting back up after being knocked down.
On one side, Art really was a New York Tough Guy. He could appear gruff and hardened to new acquaintances, but those who had the privilege of knowing Art knew he was a truly loving, kind, caring, and compassionate soul. If you were friends with Art, you had a friend for life.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Angelica Crowe; two children, Arietta and Gabrielle; and five sisters, Carol, Holly, Cathy, Helen, and Kerry. Art also leaves behind Noodle, the family cat who adored him dearly.
Art and Angie met in 1991 and were married the following March in 1992. They soon settled in Virginia, where they spent four joyful years together—dancing, playing in the snow, and simply enjoying each other's company—before welcoming their first child in 1996 and their second in 1999.
Art was a devoted father and husband. He took immense pride in everything his children did. Whether he was celebrating their first steps, cheering from the sidelines at swim meets, attending their choir and band concerts, encouraging their artistic pursuits, building snow slides each winter, or tubing with them on the lake, Art was always present with unwavering love. His family was his greatest joy.
Art loved his work and spent 47 years at Carl Zeiss Microscopy LLC, where he was deeply involved in facilitating cutting-edge research. Art was responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing the advanced technology that was instrumental in the success of many research projects; his expertise was unparalleled and he was indispensable to his company. Art found true joy and purpose in his career, taking great pride in the work he did and the lasting relationships he forged along the way.
Art's passing is felt deeply by his friends and loved ones. The impact of his life and the strength of his character will continue to live on in all who knew him.
