Barbara was born November 7 Th 1947 in Washington DC, she was raised on Lebaum in Street SE Washington and there Barb attended Congress Heights Elementary, Hart Middle School, and graduated from Ballou High school in Washington, DC class of 1965. She began her career as a typist in what was then called a Typing pool. She later became a personal secretary to some of the top management personnel at both the Naval Oceanographic and the US Census Bureau in Suitland MD before moving to Fredericksburg where she retired some 23 years ago.
Barbara simply loved to dance. Barb attended every dance that she could at various teen functions around and throughout area and continued to dance throughout her adult life. Once Barb was voted "Miss. Ocean City" by her peers in her high school circle and Barb never made a big deal of it , she never thought very highly of herself. I never could understand that because she was simply such beautiful lady both inside and out. Barbs was gifted from God with an incredible and beautiful singing voice she was too shy to share with others, however, I was blessed often to hear her sing as she toiled around her home. I could go on and on and never find the words to express what a more wonderful wife and best friend Barbara was to me; she changed my life forever, and I am a better man because of her.
On Barbara's departure to Heaven, Barb left behind her husband William (Bill) Brock, 3 daughters, 2 stepdaughters, Anna DiNenna (deceased) Danielle Washington (Larry Washington) of Rapidan VA, Laura Hartman (Jennifer Sloat) of Spotsylvania VA, Cheri Hilty of Copperas Cove Texas, and Kristin Smith (Joe Smith) of Parker Co. Barbara also said goodbye for now to 12 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren along with her 3 babies (kitties) that Barb loved so very much.
Barbara will be laid to rest on June 1 st at 2 PM, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Locust Grove VA. At the family's request in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Fredericksburg, VA in Barbara's name. This is more than a worthy organization that assisted in making Barbs transition from her earthly home to her eternal place in Heaven peaceful and pain free.
Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God (Billy Graham)
