ARNOLD, Bernard James Jr. "Bernie", 87 of Lake of the Woods (LOW), Passed away on Sunday January 3, 2021. Bernie is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen "Kay" Arnold;brother, David Arnold; and niece Barbara Frances. He is survived by his children, Betsy Arnold Leahy, B.J. Arnold, K.C.
Arnold, Mary Arnold  Mohiyuddin, Margaret Arnold, Tricia Mahalko, Ed Arnold; grandchildren, Andra, Marty, Brigid, Dana, Emma, Kian,
Clare, Brendan, Kareem, Hakeem, Ronin, Dylan, Megan; great-grandchildren, Effy, Brendan, Nora; companion, Eleanor Baughman; 4 nieces; 1 nephew; and many other family members and friends. Bernie served our country in the United States Army, he retired from Grumman Corporation after a long career. He and Kay relocated from Rockville Centre (RVC), NY to LOW in 1994 and were parishioners at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Bernie dedicated his life to service of family and community. He volunteered for Lake of the Woods Fire and Rescue Company and was a docent at Ellwood Manor. A lifelong scout, Bernie served in Boy Scout Troop 214 in RVC as well as Troop 197 in LOW. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow and a Sagamore Service Troop Member, Theodore Roosevelt Council. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 1pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 9149 Elys Ford Rd. Fredericksburg, VA 22407. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lake of the Woods Fire and Rescue Company.
