Bettie Jean Rose was born on May 25, 1942, the youngest and tenth child to the late Lonnie and Alonia Williams Rose.  Jean departed this life on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Stafford Hospital with family at her bedside.

Jean graduated in 1960 from Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina.  She continued her education by attending Temple Bus

iness School in Washington, DC, where she earned a LPN/RMA certificate in 1985.  She also took various business courses at Montgomery College, in Rockville, MD.

Jean retired in 2003 from the Montgomery County Government, Rockville, MD, where she had worked for various departments.

Jean is preceded in death by three sisters Zelpha Lewis, Cora Artis, and Carrie Artis; and three brothers Roy, Lonnie Jr, and Walter Rose; and the father of her sons, Warren R. Jones.

Left to cherish her loving memory includes her two sons, Canute J. (Donna) Jones, Sr.  and Jacinto D. (Betty) Jones both of Fredericksburg, VA.  Her sisters Mattie Clay of Wilson, NC, Lola Walker, and Emma Rose both of Durham, NC.  Her heart sisters Faye Scruggs of Adelphi, MD and Doris Pollard of Washington, DC.  Her grandchildren, Brad (Melissa) Monte, Sabrina Smith,  Lenora Leake, Madison Tyndall , Mason Tyndall, Canute (Starr) Chaney-Jones Jr., Blair Jones, Sven (Sheila) Jones, Michael (Haley) Whitlock, Monique Jones, Jacinto Jones II, and Katie Rose Jones. Fourteen great grandchildren:  Bradyn Monte, Giana Monte, Mia Jones, Jaden Jones, Devin Monte, David King, Dana Smith, Selena Smith, Charlie Smith Jr., Makynzie Williamson, Chloe Chaney-Jones, Kolt Jolliffe, Sophia Mongold and Jivaros Chaney-Jones.  One great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
