Betty Jane (Sherwood) Evans, 94, of Locust Grove, VA passed away on September 8, 2018 at the Hughes Home in Fredericksburg, VA. Betty was born on March 10, 1924 to Frank M. and Clara (Gover) Sherwood, in Washington, D.C.She married Edward Preston Evans and he preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.They resided in Arlington for many years before moving to the Lake of the Woods in 1983.Betty received her Register Nurse education at Northern Virginia Community College and worked at Fairfax Hospital for over 10 years.She was a dedicated Girl Scout, an enthusiastic square dancer and loved to travel in her motorhome.She was a Member of the D.A.R. and Fredericksburg Doll Club. Survivors include her son, Steven Lyle Evans (Nancy); daughter Diane Kay Evans-Gayer (Robert); four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Interment will be private at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
