Bryce Louis Downie
October 31, 1972 – February 28, 2025

Bryce Downie, 52, passed away on February 28, 2025, just days after the passing of his father,
Louis Roland Downie, on February 23. Born on October 31, 1972, Bryce grew up in Woodbridge, Virginia, and graduated from
Woodbridge High School with the class of 1990. He was a proud member of the All-County
District Chorus and cherished the opportunity to travel to Europe with the group.
Bryce pursued his passion for science at Longwood University, earning a degree in Biology in
1995, before continuing his studies at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he
obtained a Master of Science degree in 2001. During his time at Bloomsburg, he was an active
member of the Catholic Campus Ministry and tutored undergraduate students at the Learning
Resource Center.
After earning his degree he worked as a Senior Shelver at the Arlington County Public Library,
where he was able to indulge his love of books and learning.
A devoted Catholic, he remained steadfast in his faith despite lifelong health challenges. Bryce is
now reunited with his parents in eternal rest, Louis and Nancy Downie.
A graveside service will be held on March 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 10127
Plank Road, Spotsylvania, VA, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Lake of the Woods
Clubhouse, 102 Lake of the Woods Way, Locust Grove, VA.
