Carleton Richard "Carl" Parish, 74, of Spotsylvania, VA and Ft. Myers, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.
A New Hampshire native, Carleton graduated from Haverhill (NH) Academy in 1962. Carleton enlisted and served four years in the United States Navy where he achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He then attended Plymouth State (NH) University where he was a founding brother of Phi Beta Upsilon, a unique fraternity for returning veterans. Carleton graduated from Plymouth State in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in social science and joined the U.S. Marshal's Service. He retired in 2005 after 34 years of civil service.
Carleton was a member of the Plymouth State Holmes Heritage Society, the PSU President's Council and American Legion Post 0141. Carleton was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon in 2011 and is survived by friends whose lives have been touched by his knowledge, humor, and generosity. His legacy will continue to live on not only within them, but also through his beneficent contributions to his Alma mater and community.
Visitation will be held on Thursday March 1, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, VA. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday March 2, 2018 at Laurel Hill chapel beginning at 11 am. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.

Plymouth State University will host a memorial service for Carleton on Sunday May 6, 2018 prior to dedication of the Baseball Field in Honor of Carleton and Sharon Parish.
