Obituary

Carmen Steven Civello, 72, VaARNG Retd. First Sergeant, of Fredericksburg, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
Carmen was born on April 3, 1945, in Pittsburg, PA, to Ignazio and Annunziata (Farina) Civello. Prior to finishing his senior year, Carmen joined the US Army, serving a year in Korea. He trained as a tank mechanic, which he continued to use throughout his life, working on all of the family vehicles. His daughter, Carri, says, "that he was a wonderful carpenter, mason, mechanic and there was nothing he couldn't fix." Carmen married Donna Jane Cole on January 28, 1967 making their home in Pittsburg, PA. They moved to the Fredericksburg area in 1975, where they became members of the St. Patrick Catholic Church. Carmen retired from the Virginia Army National Guard on April 4, 2000, after serving for seventeen years. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed time with his wife and family.
Survivors include, his son, Jay; daughter Carri Franklin (John) and two grandsons, Christopher and Bradley Burns. Carmen was preceded by his wife, Donna, one brother and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 11 am with Father Jerry Wooton officiating.
