Carolyn Marie (Hepler) Close, 77, of Locust Grove, passed away Sunday, Novermber 4, 2018 at her home, with her loving family by her side.  Carolyn was born on February 3, 1941 to James Leslie and Maud Frances (Thurmond) Hepler in Alleghany Co., VA.  She graduated from Lynchburg College with a B.A. Degree in English, in 1963.  Carolyn married Donald Lawrence Close on June 18, 1966 in Springfield, VA, where they made their home, until moving to the Lake of the Woods in 1996.  Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is survived by her son, David T. Close (Anne); sister, Roberta Hough (Roland) and grandson, James.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Jack Hepler and sister Eleanor Taylor.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Novermber 13, 2018 from 11 am to 12 noon at Laurel Hill Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 12 noon, with Pastor Amos Healy officiating and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, Carolyn suggested donations to the LOW  Fire and Rescue at 104 Lakeview Pkwy, Locust Grove VA 22508.
