Obituary

Colonel Charles "Duncan" Beaumont died on December 4th, 2023 - shortly after celebrating his 92nd birthday. Born and raised in Langloth, PA, he was the son of Brent and Roberta Beaumont. He graduated from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1954 and continued his education at Columbia University in New York, NY, earning a Master of the Arts Degree in Teaching of French.

As a career U.S. Army Infantry Officer, he served in many places over a 30-year span to include France, Panama, Morocco, Leavenworth, KS, the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, PA, and the Pentagon. His final tour was at Quantico, VA. Duncan often shared stories of his experiences as the company commander of the "Screaming Eagles" 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, KY which predated two tours in Vietnam.

Duncan met his wife Beryl "Berry" Bratton in New York City on a blind date. Settling in Virginia and later North Carolina, they stayed active golfing and playing bridge with their many friends. They were happily married until her passing in 2008 in New Bern, NC. In 2015, Duncan moved to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Duncan remained active, exercising by lifting weights and riding his stationary bike late into his 80s. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, but especially liked attending his grandchildren's various games.

Duncan is survived by his children, Kathryn Beaumont Adams and husband, John, of Fairfax Station, VA and Charles Bratton Beaumont and wife, Stephanie, of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren, Brent and Claire Adams and Duncan, Jack, and Ben Beaumont. He is preceded in death by his siblings, brother Brent, and sister Faye.

A ceremony is planned at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Berry.
