Charles Dennis "Charlie" Stiles, 68, of Fredericksburg, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Mary Washington Hospital. Charlie was born on August 11, 1946 to Charles Hathaway and Mildred Amanda (Vinson) Stiles, in Tampa, FL. He joined the US Army in March 1966 and served for over 40 years. Charlie married Judith "Judy" Kay Stemple on June 21, 1975 in Loudoun County, VA making their home in Herndon, VA, until moving to Fredericksburg in 1989. He retired from the US Army Reserves on August 11, 2006, as a Sergeant First Class. During the time with the reserves, Charlie also worked at the CIA in the Print and Photo Division. After retiring, he then worked in security for companies, the last being with Securitas at local CVS distribution center. Charlie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie, 4123 and a Life Member Loyal Order of the Moose 1655, both of Fredericksburg. Survivors include, his wife of nearly 40 years, Judy; 3 sons' Stephen D., Christopher D (Wendy), and Charles R. (Vanessa) Stiles; sister; Susan Austin (James), 3 grandchildren; Jackson Rusk, Lilly and Judah Stiles; brothers-in-law; Ronald Stemple and Harry Scott Stemple (Tammy); 30 nieces and nephews..
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 7 pm to 9 pm, with Loyal Order of the Moose Service Tribute, held at 8:30pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service, on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 12 noon with Pastor John Ried officiating. Entombment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
