Charles "Poppy" Keith White, 75, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016, with his loving family at his bedside. Charlie was born on March 17, 1941, in Amigo, WV, to Charles Joseph and Velma Virginia Ellen (Osborne) White.
He graduated high school and then served in the US Marine Corp from 1960 to 1964.
Charlie met and married Esther Rosemary McGinn on October 31, 1964, in Arlington, VA. He worked as a driver for Railway Express and DC Transit, before joining Charles E. Smith Companies as superintendent in their Construction Mgt. Division. Charlie retired in 2009 after he and Esther moved to Fredericksburg. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Fredericksburg, VA, and was a devout country music fan, and loved Ray Price and all the old stars. His life also centered around his wife, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Esther; son, Charles Joseph II (Heather), three daughters; Anne Christine Rodriguez, Marie Janine Anderson, Lisa Renee Vogel; two brothers; Tennis S. White (Rebecca), Larry L. White; sister: Judi Ann Harry (James); nine grandchildren: SFC Andrew T. Dowdy, Jacqueline D. Rodriguez, Luis F. Rodriguez, Amanda J. Anderson, Cassidy C. Anderson, Sarah E. Clark, Stephanie A. Rodriguez, Ryan C. Clark, and Logan A. White, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Fredericksburg,VA, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 12 noon
