Obituary

Charlotte Mae Deer, nee King, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born in Ivydale, West Virginia, the daughter of Henry and Adeline (Paxton) King. She worked and raised her family in Arlington, Virginia and it was there that the love of her life, Floyd F. Deer Jr., preceded her in death many years ago. She has spent the last several years as a resident of Locust Grove, Virginia.

Her life was a testament to compassion, love, hard work, and selflessness, as she spent her days caring for others as a devoted nurse. Her journey in nursing began humbly, but through hard work and dedication, she climbed the ranks, ultimately reaching the position of Hospital Administrator prior to her retirement. Her kindness and commitment to her patients left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and her legacy as a caregiver will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Family was the cornerstone of Charlotte's life, and she held her loved ones close to her heart. She leaves behind her children: Peter James Deer, Karl Anthony (predeceased by Susan) Deer, Sharon (James Michael) Weaver, and Suzanne Deer, her grandchildren: Kristina Deer and Joshua Weaver, and great-grandchildren: Benjamin Lambert, Anthony Lambert, and Kalani Lambert. She loved them unconditionally, treasured every moment spent with them, and was a constant source of support and strength for each of them.

Charlotte had many siblings and is survived by Joyce (Wayne) Anderson of Duck, West Virginia, and Henry (Victoria) King, of Rittman, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Harris King, Van Cordell King, Sam Paxton King, Clay Elmore King, and Rodney David King, and sisters, Mitchella Sue Price, Vernetta King and Wavie King. The bond she shared with her family was unbreakable, and their memories together will forever live on.

Charlotte had a passion for nature and gardening which was evident in her beautiful azalea bushes and rows of irises. Each Spring, she eagerly anticipated their blossoming and celebrated the vibrant colors that adorned her yard.Charlotte's life was one of love, compassion, and joy. Her presence brightened the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. As

we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we find solace in knowing that she has reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.

May her soul rest in Eternal Peace, and may her love continue to guide and inspire us all.
