Minister David Lee Brown "Richard"
Minister David Lee Brown "Richard," a loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025. Born on October 28, 1964, in Culpeper, VA, he was the second child of Pastor William and Bernice Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alvin Brown. Richard grew up in Culpeper alongside his eight siblings and was known for his kindness, humor, and love of family and good food.
Richard was a dedicated Christian who accepted Christ in 1992 and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lignum, VA. He served the church in various roles, including trustee, church treasurer, and choir member, bringing joy and energy to his ministry. He later continued his service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Shenandoah and Pilgrim Baptist Church in Locust Grove, where he faithfully ministered until his health declined.
Richard worked for many years in retail, starting at Popular Corner, and later advancing to positions at Crown Gasoline Stations and Walmart. His dedication and leadership were recognized as he rose through the ranks to Assistant Manager at Walmart, where he also managed the night shift in Warrenton for several years.
Known for his infectious laughter and joy, Richard was a constant source of light to everyone around him. His ability to make others laugh, even in difficult times, will be deeply missed. Richard's legacy of faith, love, and laughter will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his six brothers; Bruce Brown (Anne) Rapidan VA, William Brown (Lorraine) Remington VA, Gregory Brown (Tiffany) Fredericksburg VA, Garry Brown (Karen) Culpeper VA, Robert Brown (Veronica) Culpeper VA, Cary Brown (Kellease) Jacksonville FL, one sister Brenda Brown of Woodbridge VA, a special aunt and cousin Viola and Michelle Brown, both of Alexandria VA, along with a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and a dear friend Victoria Crenshaw of Fredericksburg VA.
The family will have a celebration of life on Friday January 31st, 11am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 4288 Governor Almond Rd Locust Grove VA 22508.
