Diane Mitchell, 73, of Fredericksburg went home with her savior on August 23, 2019.  Diane was a devout believer who placed her faith in Jesus Christ.  Born in 1946 in Washington, DC., Diane spent the last decades of her life in Virginia after living out West, including in New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.    Diane served as a civil servant in roles with the Department of Treasury, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Air Force.  As a young woman, Diane was physically active enjoying ice-skating, scuba diving, and spending time in the mountains.  She was the widow of Paul Mitchell who preceded her in death in 2009.  Diane was also preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Juanita Burgess, brother Don, and sister Barbara.  Diane is survived by her son Chris and his wife Joangela, daughter Kristin and her husband Doug, and seven grandchildren: Devin, Ryan, Sarah, Paul, Nathanael, Liam, and Jack.  She is further survived by her brothers Doug and Sonny and multiple generations of nieces and nephews, including Dwayne, Elaine, Susie, Roy, David, Charlie, Fernanda, Shepard, and Victoria.  Diane is now walking with the Lord, and she would encourage us all to press on in knowing Him: "But think about this: while we were wasting our lives in sin, God revealed His powerful love to us in a tangible display—the Anointed One died for us."  Relatives and friends are invited to Diane's Life Celebration at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10027 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania, VA from 10am until time of service at 11am. Interment will follow in the Mausoleum.
