Obituary

Donald passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones and went to be with his Heavenly Father.

Donald was born the oldest of two children to Virginia and Francis Cramer in Menomonee Wisconsin on May 5, 1933.

He met the love of his life, Vernelia Giles at South Division High School, Milwaukee Wisconsin where they both attended school, and their classmates knew they were destined to be married. After 5 years of courtship, they were indeed married on June 20, 1953, at St Martini Church,
Milwaukee Wisconsin.

Donald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 6, 1952, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. He worked his way up the ranks from Private through to retiring as a Captain. After retiring he started another career, managing Dumfries Pharmacy for almost another 20 years, becoming a loved member of the community.

Donald was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church for over 50 years and served in many different offices working with people from the very youngest to the very oldest.

Everyone who knew Don knew he was quick with a smile and often had a good joke to brighten someone's day.  He loved to laugh and had a marvelous sense of humor.  He also loved his Washington Nationals and Redskins.

Donald lived a rich and full life with his wife of 70 years and in that time, with God's blessing, he had five very special children.

Donald is survived by his Wife Vernelia Cramer, Children Deborah Haarman, Katherine Huffman, Tina Goolesby (Timothy), David Cramer (Cindy), Grandchildren Annette Mann (Jason), Chad Cramer, Christina Haarman, Missy Ferary, Daniel Huffman (Danielle), John Haarman III, Kimberly Foster (Nick), Kerri Stalvey (Joshua), Emma Joynes (Derick), Zeal Goolesby, Ques Goolesby and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Donald is preceded in death by his father Francis Cramer, his mother Virginia Cramer, Sister Vivian Obluck, Son Donald Cramer II, Granddaughter Barbara Haarman and Son-in-laws Charles Huffman and John Haarman Jr.
