Donald Edward Lyons, Sr, 83, of Spotsylvania, passed away Friday Aug. 9, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital surrounded by his family. Donald was born on Apr. 6, 1930 to Kenneth Edward and Myrtle Louise (Brewer) Lyons, in Northeast PA and raised in Erie, PA. Donald was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army, earning a Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation. He married MaryAnn Comitz on Nov. 24, 1956 in Wesleyville, PA. Together they dairy farmed in Penn. until 1967 when they moved their entire operation, including cattle and equipment, to its current location in Wilderness VA where it operates today as Lyons Dairy Farm.
Survivors include: his wife Maryann; one son; Donald E. Jr. (Cheryl); two dau's; Karen (Tom) Early; Connie Berg; two brothers; Gerald (Darlene) and Bruce (Janet) Lyons; one grandson Zachary; four granddaughters; Krista, Erin, Heather and Melanie. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry and son-in-law, Jon Berg. Visitation will be Wednesday Aug. 14, 2013 from 10 am to 10:45 am at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, with funeral services at 11 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fredericksburg with interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
