Obituary for Dorsey "Bill" V. Rankin.
Dorsey V. "Bill" Rankin of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va. surrounded by his family and friends. Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elsie Rankin and is survived by his three daughters; Virginia DuBois and her husband Bill; Becky Bradley and her husband Stanley; and Rosemary Armstrong; his eight grandchildren, Steve Chewning, Sharon Lloyd, Penny Lloyd, Tracy Chewning, Sandy Reineck, Trisha Gleason, Christine Graninger and Desiree DuBois; also 10 great-grandchildren and special friends, Harry and Lucy Pritchett and family, all of Spotsylvania, VA.
Mr. Rankin was a decorated U.S. Army WWII Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 320 and the Disabled American Veterans. He attended Goshen Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home and where services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday August 18,2004 by Rev. Shawn Matako. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the Spotsylvania County Fire and Rescue Squad, Courthouse Rd.
