It is with great sadness that we bring news that Douglas Mc Arthur Ball (Doug) has passed onward from this life May 11, 2008. After a fighting courageously against a brief illness, he was with his beloved family when he was called. He was to be 66 July 2 and was to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary July 16. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Elizabeth Ball, brother: James Roscoe, five children: Kirk Douglas, Pamela Sue, Ricky Lee, David Neil and Keith Lynn; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He brought his roots and his growing, young family from the southwestern part of Virginia to Manassas where worked his way up through society leaving his mark of greatness and humbleness along the way. Moving to Nokesville he expanded his abilities to include farming, raising horses and cows, gardening while his family continued to grow. He was a dedicated outdoorsman with a love of fishing and hunting ever since he was a child. He became an avid boating enthusiast and spent many summers taking his family up and down the Potomac River and other adventures. His dreams included living out his days at a lakeside home with his wife and enjoying life to the fullest. He furthered his dream in 1986 as he built his family home on Lake Anna and became one of the best known striper guides on the lake. He lived his life exemplifying a marvelous positive attitute to those that met him. He will truely be missed. A funeral will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 17 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania. There will be a viewing from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday May 16 at the funeral home.
