Earl Bernard Stroup, Age 97 of Spotsylvania Virginia died at home on 4/11/2025 with his wife at his side.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1927 to Earl Derickson Stroup and Alice Catherine Toner. Earl attended Parochial Schools and Webster High School, Webster New York before joining the Army Air Force. After his discharge in 1949 he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and a master's degree from Columbia University. He started his career with General Electric. where he traveled the country performing in the GE "House of Magic" in schools, fairs and the Dave Garroway Show. He continued with GE, working in the computer field. In 1962 he joined IBM from which he retired as a Senior Systems Analyst in 1991.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl D. and Alice Toner Stroup and siblings: Doris Jeannette Hunt, George Robert Stroup, Margie Stroup, John Hayward Stroup, Alice Miriam Stroup. Eugene Allen Stroup, Donald Joseph Stroup. He is survived by his wife, Opal Reynolds Stroup, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pastor Elizabeth Lovell Milford will lead a memorial service at 11 am. April 28th. in the Presbyterian Church of Fredericksburg. 810 Princess Anne St, Fredericksburg VA 22401. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Donations to the Presbyterian Church (Good Samaritan Fund) are appreciated instead of flowers.
