Edward George Blevins, age 81 of Locust Grove, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Manassas, VA he was a son of the late Baxter and Nancy Jane Reedy Blevins. Mr. Blevins was part of a large family, having 18 brothers and sisters. He met his wife, Joan, in Philadelphia, and lived in New Jersey before returning to Virginia to raise a family. He retired as a manager from Coca Cola, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joan, in November 2007.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Edward Blevins, Jr., Rodger Blevins, Nancy Blevins Wools, Bruce A. Blevins, and Michele C. Blevins Dudley; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm Sunday, August 24, 2008 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Amos Healy officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 at the funeral home.
