Edward "Ed" Riley, 78, of Locust Grove, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at the Woodmont Center, Fredericksburg, Va. Edward was born on July 29, 1936 to George and Emma (Mosley) Riley, in East Meadow, NY. After graduating from high school he joined the US Army for two terms, serving as a paratrooper stateside and in Germany. In 1964 he began working for Grumman Aerospace. Ed held positions in security and human resources before retiring in 1994. Edward married Jean (Hodge) Allen on May 17, 1996 in Hempstead, NY and in 2005 they moved to Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, VA. He was a member of the NRA, and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golf.
Survivors include; his wife, Jean; son, Dwayne Mark Riley; sister; Brenda Elaine Riley; step-son, James Kevin Allen; step-daughter, Robin Michelle Allen; surrogate daughter, Sonya Lynn Breland; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Vicki Crawford; and grandson, Maurice Crawford.
A memorial service will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11 am, with family receiving friends beginning at 10 am. Interment will occur at Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, February 6 at 9 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest gifts to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
