Elbert Ewing "Bud" Smith Jr., 74, of Locust Grove, passed away Friday, June 27, at Mary Washington Hospital, with family at his side. He was born on April 20, 1940 to Elbert E. and Eleanor (Jenkins) Smith, in Alexandria, Va. Bud graduated from George Washington H.S, then attended George Washington University. He began his banking career at Alexandria National Bank, moving to various banks becoming a mortgage banker and ending his career as a contractor for The Bohan Group. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Patricia Viar Smith; two step-daughters and their spouses; Jennifer (Josh) Foster, Heather (Tyler) Luchynsky; four beautiful grandchildren; Jordan & Caiden Foster; Aurora & Maddox Luchynsky; his brother, Paul (Cheerie) Smith; his aunt, Anne Haynes; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sandra Rossi. A memorial service will be held at the Lake of the Woods Church, One Church Lane, Locust Grove, VA on Wednesday, July 2 at 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association in his memory.
