Eleanor (Shaffer) Robertson, 81, of 29330 Old Office Road, Rhoadesville, Va., passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Autumn Care of Madison, Virginia, following an extended illness. She was born December 30, 1941, in Kasson, West Virginia, the eldest daughter of the late George and Adis (Mouser) Shaffer.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband, David K. Robertson of Rhoadesville, Va. and her son, Ronald Bevins, of Austin, Texas. She also is survived by a stepdaughter, Monica Bonds of Chesterfield, Va. and a stepson, Christopher Robertson of Sebring, Florida.
She was proceeded in death by both parents and one brother, M. Charles Shaffer, but is survived by one sister and brother in law-in-law, Shirley and Thomas La Croix of Raphine, Va.; and, three brothers and three sisters-in-law: Ira L. and the late Betty Shaffer, and Janet Shaffer (wife of the late M. Charles) all of Winchester, Indiana; John R. and Nancy Shaffer, and H. Thomas and Mildred Shaffer, all of Philippi, West Virginia.
Eleanor worked for the federal government as an Annuity and Benefits Specialist for many years until her retirement. During her employment she assisted numerous fellow government employees through the calculation of their retirement income and benefits. She also ran training classes to ensure that new Annuity Specialists were well informed in all areas of the complex federal government retirement system.
Visitation for friends and family will be at the Encounter Church of God from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Monday, Nov. 6 . The Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the Encounter Church of God, 12240 Five Mile Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407 with Rev. Jeremy Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Memorial Park, 10127 Plank Road, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews charity to help those injured by war and in need of assistance.
