Elizabeth McKay "Betty" Buchanan, 69 of Spotsylvania, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Born in Scotland, she was the daughter of Richard Miller and Mary Logan.
Betty was a nurse, having practiced first in Scotland, then in Virginia at Woodbridge Nursing Home and Mt. Vernon Nursing Home. She was greatly loved by all of her patients. Betty enjoyed ceramics and knitting, as well as eating out, getting pedicures, and shopping at the mall. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren. Betty was an animal lover, especially of her two cats, Tigger and Frickett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and a beloved sister, Ena.
Survivors include a son, Michael Jamrozek and his wife Chris; two daughters, Suzette Creed and her husband Billy, and Kelly Ann Kalen and her husband Steve; 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday, January 18, 2010 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00am - 1:00pm, prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
