Early Monday morning on January 26th at home, Elizabeth drew her last breath on earth and joined her departed son Martin in a place occupied by our creator for a timeless period endlessly free of pain, suffering, stress, and fear. Her two daughters, two sons and numerous members of the large May family will miss her greatly as will her husband of 72 years, George, who was present with her when she drew her last breath.
Elizabeth was born on August 3rd 1930 in the town of Englewood, N.J. and lived with her parents Marie and William Rooney and an older brother, Bill. She married George in 1952, moved to NJ to be closer to George's work and began to raise their family. As the family grew the moved to NY and eventually to Virginia where George retied and where they built their dream home in Lake of the Woods.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Rooney, her youngest son Martin W. May and her great grandchild Micah James Kresge. Elizabeth is survived by George her loving husband of 72 years, her brother William Rooney, her 4 children- Barbara, Robert(Sandra), Michael (Cynthia) and Donna (Robert), her 21 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren- all of whom love her very much.
Elizabeth, in her early days was energetic, always busy, called by many who knew her as a "GET'ER DONE GIRL" OR "MISS FIX IT". She always had time for anyone who needed help. She worshiped at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg and was friends with Clergy and parishioners alike. Elizabeth's words, her touch, her patience, her compassion, her gentleness -everything about her- radiated the love of Jesus to all she met. The closer she became to Jesus the more readily His life and love flowed from her to others.
Her life with be celebrated on February 24th at a 12pm service at St. Patrick's Church. Friends and family are welcome to the service and after the service we will gather at the church reception room for refreshments and a chance to meet and talk for a while.
The livestream for the service can be found here; https://www.youtube.com/SaintPatrickCatholicChurchFredericksburgVA .
