Ellen Nora Prince Green, age 74, of Spotsylvania, Va., passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Mary Washington Hospital due to COVID 19. She is the loving wife of Howard Green; devoted mother of Tamara Stuart (Nathan) and

Matthew Green (Leah Engel-Green); sister of Carol Bloom and cherished grandmother of Andrew and Cameron Stuart and Madelyn and Liam Green. Ellen earned a B.A. in sociology from the State U. of NY at Stony Brook, Following her marriage to Howard in 1969, Ellen earned an M.S.W. from Howard University and worked as a social worker under contract to the Bureau of Prisons. Ellen subsequently established a career in the Financial Management Service of the US Treasury Dept., where she worked for 38 years, rising to the position of Director of the Treasury's Debt Management Services Division. While working at Treasury, Ellen continued following her calling as a social worker, doing volunteer work for CASA, for which she received many commendations from noted luminaries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Milton Prince.

Services have been held and were private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
