Beloved father and grandfather, Eric Charles Keates, 91, of Wilmington, NC was called home on July 27, 2020.

Eric was born on June 13, 1929 in London, England, and came to live in the US after serving several years in the British Army. Eric traveled the U.S, visiting the National Parks with friends, and settled in Virginia, where he met his wife, Mary Estelle, and lived for most of his life. Eric's wife Mary, daughter Dale Cain, and brothers Roy and William, preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Eileen Keates and Diana Thompson, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, and his brother Paul Keates.

Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday, August 7th at 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill Memorial Park in Spotsylvania, VA. Family and friends are invited for a casual gathering at the Chancellor Community Center, located at 7300 Old Plank Road in Fredericksburg following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Eric's name, to the Wounded Warrior Project, to help support those who served their country as Eric did his.
