Everardo Diaz, Sr., 69, passed away on November 10th in Richmond, VA, surrounded by his loved ones.
Son of Expedita Torres Resendiz and Angel Diaz Yañez of El Capulin, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Everardo was born July 1, 1955. One of thirteen children, Everardo left his family at only 14 years old to pursue a better life in Mexico City. At 17 years old, he came to the United States. Everardo was a skilled carpenter, and quickly made a name for himself, opening his own carpentry business as a very young man. He eventually went on to teach his trade to his two sons.
Everardo was survived by his wife, Maria, and five children. Angelina, 45 of Illinois and her children Stephanie, Austin, and Gideon. Erica, 43, and her husband Kenneth of Oklahoma and their children Melanie, Nathaniel, Dexter, Larissa, and Courtney. Irene, 43 of Texas and her three children Alejandro, Alondra, and Ricardo. Everardo Jr., 40, and his wife Candice of Virginia and their children Nicolas, Adrian, Eva, Alexandra, and Magdalene. And Rogelio, 38, and his wife Veronica of Virginia and their children Rogelio Jr., Liliana, Everardo III, and Damian.
Everardo was a deeply beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was well known for the stories that he loved to tell about his many adventures in life. He was extremely generous, always willing to lend a hand and offer advice.
Everardo lived out the last years of his life to the fullest, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He passed many days gardening, one of his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed classic Mexican cinema and Ranchero music. A man of faith, Everardo is now in heaven, finally reunited with his parents and many siblings who have preceded him.
The family will receive visitors at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 13th from 5-7. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 10:30 at Saint Mary's of the Immaculate Conception, followed by the burial ceremony at Laurel Hill.
