F. Price Merrels, 84, formerly of Hartford, CT., passed away Sunday, July 10 ,2005 in Wilmington, NC.
Mr. Merrels was born and raised in the Hartford, Ct. area, graduated from Kingsford-Oxford Prep School and attended Yale University. He was a US. Navy veteran and was stationed in Hawaii during WWII. He was married in 1947 and raised a family in the D.C. suburbs. An inventor by trade, he had several patents as well as owning several small businesses. He relocated to Orange County in the 70's and remained here for 25 yrs. He was widowed twice and in Jan. 2005 he moved to Wilmington, NC.
He is survived by his brother, Charles W. Merrels, a son Geoffrey T. Merrels, a daughter, Kimberley A. Merrels, two-step children, three grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at Laurel Hill Memorial Park, Spotsylvania at 12 noon, Wednesday July 13, 2005.
