Francis L. Young born in Ilion, N.Y. on September 1, 1916, eleventh of twelve children, son of George W. and Katherine R. Young, passed away on July 29, 2007 in Culpeper, VA.
He attended school in Ilion, N.Y. and lived in West Winfield, N.Y. most of his adult life. He was an active member of the Miller's Mills Community Baptist Church.
He met Marion E. Jones before heading off to serve in WWII and when he returned they were married on December 22, 1945. Francis was employed by Tennessee Gas Transmission Company for 31 years as a construction worker on the pipeline where he made many lifelong friends. He was a quiet man, soft spoken, but a man of great strength. He was a family oriented man and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. On many occasions you could find him with one or many of his grandsons fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards or just being with their many friends.
Francis is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Paul Little and their 3 sons Christopher, Robert, and Kevin and their wives, Lorri and Daniel Ward and their son David and his wife, and daughter Amanda and 7 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters, and his wife of 52 years, Marion who passed away in 1997.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Miller's Mills Community Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Miller's Mills Community Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
