Frank Martin Gomillion Jr. died on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the home of his sister in Stanardsville, VA. after a prolonged illness.
Frank was born in Norfolk, VA on Sept. 3, 1947 to Anne R. Gomillion and Frank M. Gomillion, Sr. He attended school in Norfolk graduating from Granby High School and going on to earn a degree from Old Dominion University in 1969, He was a member of TKE fraternity where he made many lifelong friends. Frank was a great prankster during his college years and developed a lifelong love of beer, especially dark craft beers,
Following Graduation, he went to work for the FBI in Maryland and then entered the military contract arena which became his life's work. Frank worked for Bell Helicopter and was sent to work on technical projects to Tehran Iran where he spent 4 very interesting years, He thoroughly enjoyed learning new cultures and traveled extensively during this time, a trait he would continue all his life. He spoke several languages and made many lifelong friends in different parts of the world. Upon returning stateside, he began a 40 year career with USB, which went through many different name changes during his career. At EG&G Frank made many of his closest friends who remained constant until his death.
Frank had many talents and hobbies. He had a lifelong love of military and historical modeling figures and was active in a Richmond VA modeling club. He enjoyed photography, traveling, fine wines and craft beers, was an avid reader, and movie buff. He was a master of trivia and would amaze you with some obscure fact that he would dredge up.
Frank is survived by his sister, Malou Stark Dichtel, his beloved nieces, Courtney Stark and Stormy Stark, many cousins, and great aunts. His parents preceded him death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, at 11:00 AM at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd, Spotsylvania, VA. Burial will be immediately following the service at Laurel Hill Memorial Park and a luncheon reception will commence at 12:30 at Basilico at 7013 Harrison Rd., Fredericksburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank at 3631 Lee Hill Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22408
