Franklin "Frank" Dorsey Brown, 74, formerly of Lignum, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at Riverside Hospital in Tappahannock, Va. Frank was born on October 17, 1940 to Dorsey Gibson and Ethel Elizabeth (Woolfrey) Brown in Lignum, Va. He married Violet May Wolfrey on June 11, 1960 in Stevensburg, VA. Frank worked as a roofer and gutter installer, before starting Quality Roofing in Mechanicsville, in 1973. He moved the company to Lignum in 1996 as he closed his business in 2003 he partnered with his brother Charles. He and Violet moved to Warsaw in 2010 and to Montross in July 2014. They were members of their home Church of God in Ashland, VA but attended Warsaw Church of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Violet; 2 sisters; Alice Virginia Wolfrey and Mary Ethel Copas; 2 granddaughters; Tabitha Brown and Necole Brown; 1 grandson; Michael Alexander Brown and 5 great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents,; 1 brother Charles and 2 sons; Michael Ray and Sheldon Gene Brown.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, from 11am to 12pm with funeral services beginning at 12pm, with Pastor Dill and Pastor Dave officiating. Interment will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery, Lignum, VA.
