Frieda Christine Strother, 79, of Fredericksburg, departed this life on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert “Bobby” and William “Billy”; adopted son, Roger “Billy” Strother; and her great-grand daughter, Margo Alice Strother.

Mrs. Strother was born in Pennsylvania to the late Fred and Edna Gerber but lived most of her life in Fredericksburg. She worked for many years at G&H Manufacturing as well as at Lee Hill Elementary School and Ace Hardware. Frieda was devoted to her family and was an avid gardener. She was happiest when tending to her roses, vegetables, and fruit trees.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Strother; sister, Elena Hall of Spain; her sister-in-law Linda Patrick; her half-brother, Fred W. Gerber, of Norfolk; her grandson, Roger “Bo” Strother, Jr. and his wife, Kortnie, of Maryland; her granddaughter, Julie Holton, of Quantico; and several great-grandchildren including Elise and Jude Strother.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania. Burial will follow at the Laurel Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Children’s National Hospital Foundation.
