George Hamilton Tyree, Jr., 80, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hamilton Tyree, Sr. and Mamie Ethel Tyree and sister, Louise Trowbridge. He married Charlotte Mae Rexrode on December 28, 1957 at Laurel Hill, VA. George joined the United States Air Force, and received an Honorable Discharge on January 30, 1963. He worked for several years as a Transportation Inspector for the State of Virginia Highway Department, before joining Fairfax County as a Lab Technician, where he retired. George and Charlotte have been residents of Fredericksburg since 1962. He enjoyed bluegrass music, fishing and was a Washington Redskins fan.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; two daughters: Ramona (David) Howell, Dana (Mike) Hinkle, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jennifer Jackson for her loving care during his last few years.
Visitation will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Tuesday December 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm, with funeral services on Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 11 am, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
