Harry Miles West III, age 85, a resident of Locust Grove, VA passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 at his home in Lake of the Woods.

He was born on October 14,1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Harry Miles West Jr. and Margaret (Mayme) DeRusha. Harry was a graduate of A.A. Montgomery College (1959), B.S. U. MD (1963), M.S. George Washington U. (1969), D.P.A (1973). For over 30 years Harry enjoyed working for the US Military to include the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Department of the Army where he concluded his career as Deputy Comptroller of the Army. Harry was also a professor of Manpower Studies at GW University. Harry retired from federal service and continued a career in the public sector as a consultant and founded Technologies Inc. Harry retired in 2015 to enjoy life on the lake. He also enjoyed spending time with family at their beach condos in MD and NC and hunting on their property in WV.

Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years: Theresa West, his two children: Kevin West (Tracy) and Gary West (who was married to the late Liane) and son Matthew and three grandchildren: Kyle West, Tyler West and Kaitlin Deller (Evan). A celebration of life will be offered at a date in the future. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association.
