Helen Henegar Peoples, 96, formerly of Goldsboro, NC and Trevilians, VA slipped away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Greenfields of Spotsylvania.  Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Charles Douthitt Peoples. Helen leaves behind to cherish her memories and stories sons Frank (Joyce), John, Carl (Terri), and Thomas (Theresa); grandchildren Frank A. Peoples Jr., Eliza-Beth Insley (Edward), Sharon Blickensderfer (Chris), Geoffrey Peoples (Stephanie), Kelly Ragsdale (Aaron), Megan M. Peoples, and Kendall Insley ; great-grandchildren Cameron (Aaron and Kelly) and was expecting Greyson (Geoffrey and Stephanie) in several weeks; numerous cousins; and countless friends.

Helen was born on January 30, 1922, at Fort Blackmore, VA to Charles and Ida Mae Henegar.

Helen grew up in Southwest VA and Eastern TN eventually moving to Baltimore, MD where she held numerous jobs before hiring on at the Glen L. Martin company during World War II where she worked assembling aircraft.

After marrying Charles in 1946 she lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Hawaii, and Virginia while Charles served in the U.S. Air Force.

Helen loved genealogy (tracking her family back to 1650), rock collecting, gardening, crafts, quilting, back seat driving (complete with certificate), sewing, antiques, cloisonné, marching band boosters club, making apple butter, and reading.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenfields Senior Living of Spotsylvania, 9300 Onyx Ct., Fredericksburg, VA 22407, in memory of Helen Peoples.

Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
