Herbert Anthony Leo Facchina, 77, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at home peacefully surrounded by his children. Herb, the widower of Anne F. Facchina, is survived by two sons, Herbert A. Facchina Jr. and his wife, Catherine, and Dr. Stephen L. Facchina and his wife, Lori; three daughters, Christine Spicer and her husband, Robert; Ellen Butters and her husband, Michael, and Diane Romanek and her husband, Broc; two brothers, Eugene and Joseph Facchina; two sisters, Maryann Merollini, and Rita Crouch; and his grandchildren, Lance Kandl; Matthew, Brian , and Sarah Spicer; Katie, Michael Jr., Danny, and Maggie Butters; Isabella and Dominic Facchina; Quinn and Griffin Romanek. Mr. Facchina served honorably in the U.S. Army as a corpsman. He and his loving wife raised their five children in the home he built in McLean., Va.. Herb was a construction superintendent for multiple commercial and residential projects in the DC--metro area. His sunny personality, his generousness of heart and his spirited sense of humor served him well on his earthly journey. One of 9 brothers and sisters, he enjoyed his family greatly. Herb will be remembered by all as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Love You Dad! Visitation will be at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Road, on Sunday, December 9, from 2 to 5 p.m., and on Monday, December 10 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 9151 Elys Ford Road, Locust Grove, Virginia at 12 p.m. Monday December 10th.
