Howard B. Jacobsen, 85, of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born February 10, 1920 in Minden, Nebraska, Mr. Jacobsen was the son of the late Walter and Atha Jacobsen.
He was a member of Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir. He was a World War II Army veteran and had retired from the Department of Defense.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alvera A. Jacobsen; his children, Charlene Garten of Burke, Walter Jacobsen, Sandra Rawlett and Doris Shoemaker, all of Fredericksburg. Lucille Everson of Danville, California, Roger Jacobsen of Fredericksburg, and Lester Jacobsen of Springfield; a brother, Donald Jacobsen of Reno, Nevada; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 23 at Spotsylvania Presbyterian Church, with burial to follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania.
