IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jackie Lee
O'Quinn
February 12, 1944 – December 8, 2022
Jackie Lee O'Quinn Sr., 78, passed away at home in Locust Grove Virginia on December 8th, 2022 after battling pneumonia. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Lois Evelyn O'Quinn, who preceded him in death in 2021 after almost 60 loving years of marriage.
Jack was born on February 12, 1944 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late Paul & Pansy O'Quinn. One of five children, Jack's childhood was active with chores and school activities. While in high school, he met and set his cap for Lois, the girl with the beautiful smile.
Jack and Lois married on October 4, 1961 and left Tazewell to move to Fairfax County, where Jack found his calling working as a building inspector. While he would take other positions throughout his career, he would return to and retire from Fairfax County.
Jack and Lois decided to retire to Surfside Beach SC, where he worked again briefly as an inspector before finally retiring for good. He enjoyed spending time with Lois, walking with their beloved Bichon, Macklin, and playing bocce ball with friends.
Jack and Lois started their family in 1964 with the birth of their son Jay, and then in 1968 their second son, Scott. Jack was very proud of his sons; he volunteered as a coach when they were younger and always showed up to support and cheer them on in all of their endeavors.
Jack is survived by his sons, Jackie (Jay) Lee O'Quinn, Jr. and his wife Dawn, and Wesley Scott O'Quinn Sr., his wife Jen and her child Alex; and five adoring grandchildren, Jameson, Braeden, Wesley, Olivia, Mary, and great grandson Jaxson.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother Paul and is survived by his brothers, Orval and Leon, and his sister Carolyn Large, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins; a loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, playing bocce ball and golf, and enjoying good food. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kind, sunny disposition, good humor, and his love and commitment to his family.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held January 7th, 2023, at 11 a.m at the Laurel Hill Funeral Home in Spotsylvania, VA.
