James J. Lohr, 90, of Locust Grove, VA, passed away at Carriage Hill Health and Rehab Center on Saturday, August 19, 2017. James was born to Wade and Amelia Lohr in Oakland, Maryland. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy; he is a veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict. James married Dorothy Garner in 1953. He graduated from the University of Maryland and worked for Exxon for over 35 years. James led an active life. He enjoyed golf, coaching youth sports, Scouting, and being a devoted husband and father. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dottie; three sons: Michael (Betsy), John (Susan), Scott (Mindy); and 6 grandchildren: Alex, Christopher, Samantha, John Jr., Allyson and Ryan. James was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, with Funeral Mass being held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's, with Father Wooton. Private interment services will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery.
