Obituary

James M Taylor, Age 58, of Fredericksburg, VA., passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Loved ones at his side.

James was born in Amarillo, Texas. Those who knew him well, know his birth story was very different then others, lovingly written by his mother Theda Louise Taylor, who preceded him in death, as well as his father George W. Taylor; a sister, Mary Nell Skinner and two of his brothers, William 'Bill' A.Taylor and George 'Wayne' Taylor.

James worked from a very young age with his 'Pop' in his carpentry business, learning many skills in which he loved to teach as he would say "The right way". Growing up in a family with many mouths to feed, he learned how to farm and garden to help provide, in which later found that he really enjoyed it as a hobby, sharing his knowledge with others. Having attended the same schools as his older siblings, his Spotsylvania High School principal pulled him aside prior to his entering his first day and said "If you are anything like your brothers, you can leave now". Throughout high school he remained fairly quiet, causing a bit less trouble than that of his brothers. After high school he chose to serve his country.

He entered the Army reserves at the age of seventeen, enlisting in the Marine Corp at the age of 18. A very proud Marine, he'd planned to retire from the Marine Corp. Unfortunately, an injury kept him from this dream. He took his Bulk Fuel Specialist training to Newark International Airport, where he was a Fueling Supervisor. He later obtained his CDL and enjoyed a rendering truck route, where he met many people and made many friends along his route.

James very much enjoyed being the coach of his children's sports (softball and basketball) teams. Spending quality time with his children was the most important thing to him. He loved all of his children immeasurably. Time spent with his children, step-children and grand-children, created lasting memories.

James enjoyed all genres of music. Classic rock was at the top of his list. A huge Cowboy's fan, football was a focal point, every Sunday afternoon, throughout the season. Jack of all trades, he was counted on by family and friends. He taught his children quite a few skills. He also had a knack for being knowledgeable of many types of trivia. Many joked of him being a walking Encyclopedia. His love for educational TV programs and Sci-Fi movies, made for interesting conversation. A Sci-Fi geek and lover of the stars, he was one of Steven Hawking's biggest fans. He very often would say "I know I never will, but I would love to be there to watch how it all ends." Just out of sheer fascination with scientific events.

Anyone who knew James, understood his love for dogs' and rescue. He was saddened when his health no longer allowed him to be involved, but the stories of those days will be shared over and over again. As will many other special days. James gave so much of himself to many. Known for taking in strangers and giving them shelter, love, and guidance. He was loved by many and will remain in their hearts always.

James is loved and survived by his loving wife Kathleen M Taylor and his much loved Aunt M. "Katherine" Hubble; his brother David Taylor (Cathy) and three sisters, Virginia "Penny" Robertson, Brenda Crews, and Tina Payne (Fred). His children; Cassandra Marie, Jennifer Louise, James Matthew Taylor II and Jamie Lila Blair. Step-Children; Kyle G, Ashlie C (Eddie) and Seth D (Olivia) Haley.. His much loved grand-children; Gavin J and Emmitt G Duarte, Ajahlin Rose (Jake) Ayers, Nathan A Colvin and Joshua W Swoope and great-grandchildren; Piper J Ayers, Parker J Ayers and Liam A Swoope. In addition to several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love him dearly.
