James Thomas "Tom" Jones, 79 of Stafford passed away at Mary Washington Hospital on Tuesday March 21, 2017.
Tom was born on August 9, 1937 to Jacob Gilbert and Eva Elizabeth (Phillips) Jones in Washington, D.C. He married Mary Ann Thornton on December 20, 1957 in Fairfax, VA. Tom joined the Falls Church Police Department in 1962 and retired in 1982 as a Sergeant. He continued working for 20 more years with Raytheon. Survivors include: his wife, Mary; two sons, Duane Thomas (Debra) and James Landon (Delia); five grandchildren: Michael Duane, Joseph Allen, Laura Elizabeth, Dylan Anthony, and Cerys Elisabeth and three great grandchildren: Kevin Michael, Cailyn Grace and Carson Joseph. Tom was preceded by three brothers: Charles Everett, Melvin Francis and Jacob Gilbert, Jr. and three sisters; Ethel Elizabeth Franklin, Dorothy Elaine Thomas and Beverly Ann Wharam
