James K. Wallace, 67 of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Born in Los Angeles, CA he was a son of the late James, Jr., and Emma Benoit Wallace.
Mr. Wallace was a U.S. Navy veteran, having retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of service. After retirement, he continued his career as a contracting engineer for the Navy. He was of the Christian faith, and was a loving and caring husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria Wallace; son, LCDR Michael Wallace, USN Ret.; daughters, Susan Wallace, Darlene Wallace, and Deanna McAlister and her husband Joe; one brother, Richard Blaine Wallace and his wife Nora; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday, June 20, 2009 in the chapel of Laurel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Marcom officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00pm - 2:00pm, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the INOVA Lung Transplant Fund, INOVA Transplant Center, 3300 Gallows Rd, Falls Church, VA 22042-3300, Attn: Deborah Campbell.
Mr. Wallace and his family are in the care of Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 10127 Plank Rd, Spotsylvania.
