Obituary

John W. Arehart, 82, one of the most kind and gentle human beings placed on this earth, peacefully rose to heaven to join his deeply beloved wife, Gloria, on November 29, 2015. Born on July 2, 1933 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, John worked in the local steel mill as a young man before serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was then recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency, and continued to serve his country for 25 years while traveling the world with his family. After he left government service, he continued to work in the private sector for 20 years before choosing to retire in Vienna, VA, and ultimately Ormond Beach FL. John's joy, and love of his life, was his wife Gloria, of 55 years, who preceded him in death by two years. He was a very loving father to his three grateful children: Alane, Becky and John, as well as a caring grandfather to his two grandchildren Jason and Jared. Friends and family are invited to attend mass on Sunday, 6 December at Ashby Ponds Senior Living Community-Maple Grove Building, 21160 Maple Branch Terrace, 2nd Floor, Ashburn, VA 20147 from 2-2:45PM ET. A small informal reception will follow for an hour after the mass. A second mass and memorial service will be held at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, FL after the new year. Inurnment will be scheduled at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, VA. In lieu of flowers, please send a bouquet to your own parents or children, or perhaps give a generous tip to a hard working waiter or waitress at your favorite local restaurant.
